One of the goals of "Wirtschaftsförderung Region Frankfurt RheinMain", the economic development organisation for the Frankfurt RheinMain region, is to promote coordination and cooperation in the field of economic development among the members in the RheinMain region. This aim involves major structural and economic tasks that are of importance to the region's future.
Securing future growth and prosperity in the region means that it must develop a more distinct profile enabling it to compete successfully with other international economic centres.
To this effect, various cities in the region have agreed to the region's request to build up and sponsor networks of competence for their cities and the entire RheinMain region.
As an innovative region, the RheinMain region has several networks of competence in the following sectors:

Networks of competence are local hubs of cooperation with international appeal and attraction. They combine several value-added stages of different sectors and disciplines and involve a high value-added potential.
The selective development and promotion of these networks improves the competitiveness of both the region and its businesses. Thanks to close cooperation among the various partners in politics, administration, education, research and business, the RheinMain region's potential is strengthened by common efforts and its unique selling points are brought out more effectively for a better positioning in national and international competition of economic centres.
A large number of industries, companies, suppliers, universities and institutions operating in the Frankfurt RheinMain region participate in these successful networks of competence which serve as communication platforms for research/science and business. Therefore, the networks of competence are building blocks of an innovative economy that contributes to the region's value through innovative products and services and is open to companies from all over the world.
For the members of the individual networks the concentration of industries in "clusters" makes it easier to find suitable and performing partners for cooperation and to be more easily found and perceived by prospects. At the same time it is expected that these clusters will enhance the attractiveness of the region's scientific and social resources allowing it to remain a magnet for highly skilled talent and students.
Further information on the networks of competence of the Frankfurt RheinMain region can be obtained directly from the persons listed as contacts within the various organisations (see also information on the individual networks of competence).
